The new CIPD Employment Law Award focuses on practical aspects of employment law: what managers need to know to manage people effectively. The Award is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
In just four days, the course covers the essential elements of employment law, including: the basics of the employment contract; the law of diversity, equality and discrimination; fair and legal recruitment; performance management; dismissal; managing change and reorganisation; and dealing with TUPE transfers.
The course takes a highly practical approach, to employment law. Students learn how to avoid common pitfalls in employee relations, how the employment tribunal process works, and how to maximise the chances of tribunal success.
The 30-hour syllabus is taught over four days in the classroom in small student groups of 10-20 people, providing ample opportunity to interact with Workplace Law’s friendly and experienced tutors.

- Employment contracts
- Pay and working time
- Equality, diversity and discrimination law
- How to recruit legally and fairly
- Unfair dismissal and how to avoid it
- Managing change, reorganisation and redundancy
- Enforcing employment law and the tribunal process
